Irving office of our client seeks senior director, privacy with 8+ years of substantive legal and privacy experience and strong knowledge of global privacy regimes (GDPR, PIPEDA, BDSG, PIPL, US State Privacy Laws, US Sectoral areas) and keen interest in staying abreast of global privacy developments. The candidate will be a self-starter and lead the privacy team and support, advise and build firm?s multifaceted global Privacy and Data Security Governance program. Will advise on global privacy issues concerning diverse and cutting-edge technology innovations focusing on the wide range of products, business processes, licensing, and partner transactions and provide general legal regulatory support for the business. Collaborate across the company with all levels and functional areas, including the global legal, product engineering, marketing, sales, cyber security and other teams on data privacy, security issues, privacy compliance and other business matters. Have significant opportunity to address privacy and data protection issues affecting all aspects of the firm organization. Lead the company?s global privacy team. Provide strategic legal counsel and privacy advice to key internal business partners (e.g., Human Resources, Sales Operations and Marketing, Product Engineering, Cybersecurity, and others) and stay informed of their business processes, applications, projects, and technologies to ensure compliance with privacy laws and embed privacy and data security requirements and controls into projects, products, and services. Interact with key business partners to provide creative and thoughtful legal advice and support to the business while mitigating legal risks and ensuring adherence to corporate policies, as well as laws and regulations. Work as part of a broader privacy and cyber security team overseeing, reviewing, and drafting privacy and data security policies, notices, standards, controls, and other practices cross functionally as part of matrixed global business operations. Draft, review and support commercial negotiations regarding data privacy and data security contractual provisions in a wide variety of commercial agreements to ensure the company complies with cross-border data transfer restrictions and data localization requirements with respect to both intra-company transfers and transfers to third parties. Participate in a key role to support the firm Incident Response Team in the review, coordination and management of potential privacy or data security incidents, including investigations, notifications, and other resolution efforts. Oversee the development and delivery of employee privacy training program to maintain awareness about firm?s privacy obligations, data handling practices, procedures, and other legal obligations. Oversee the development of customer facing materials and manage responses from customers, partners, and queries from regulatory agencies about firm?s privacy practices. Provide guidance on privacy risks and work with internal teams review data protection impact assessments for products, services, and business processes. Participate in and support internal and third-party audits and certifications and assess the effectiveness of the privacy program. Monitor current and evolving statutes, regulations, and case law to identify legal issues of critical importance to the company and partner with internal stakeholders on compliance preparation activities. Evaluate and advise on market entry and expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and other privacy matters related to corporate transactions. Privacy certification a plus (e.g., CIPP, CIPM). Should Should have multifaceted privacy experience with large enterprise and/or global software and services organizations. Must have experience in contracts and customer negotiations. Experience working with, and presenting to, cross-functional teams and clients essential. The candidate should have excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills with internal departments, as well as external clients and vendors. Experience working with, and presenting to, cross-functional teams and clients needed. Should have ability to quickly understand technical developments and compliance requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop strong relationships across all levels of the organization, a positive attitude, thoughtfulness as well as collaboration and creativity essential. Must have demonstrated leadership ability. Should have J.D. from an accredited law school.
