Systems Accountant, GS 11 Duties: The candidate provides professional staff accounting systems development, design, revision and evaluation involving portions or subsystems of primary automated accounting systems. Participates with peers in the review of proposed legislation and directives and provides comments on the effect of proposed changes would have on existing systems and procedures. Performs in-process reviews and examinations of accounting issues, submits System Change Requests (SCRs) and finds solutions to accounting problems. Conducts internal management control reviews, audits and other reviews to ensure compliance with established directives. Serves as a member of a team to accomplish complex projects that participates in the design, development, testing, evaluation, implementation, review, and maintenance of major automated systems.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: The candidate should have Bachelor's degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

Must have Combination of education and experience: 4+ years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
Must have specialized Experience is defined as: experience applying professional knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and procedures in the development, design, revision, and evaluation of automated accounting systems and subsystems to support an assigned area.

GS-11: Must have Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
