Atlanta office of our client seeks a regulatory affairs associate counsel with 2-4 years of legal experience, in a law firm or corporate law department, ideally handling legislative and/or regulatory matters in insurance, mortgage servicing, or other highly regulated industries. The candidate under the direct supervision of the VP of Regulatory Affairs/Corporate Governance, researches, analyses, and determines the effects of state and federal statutes, regulations, and court opinions on business practices and procedures. Regulatory and corporate legal matters to be analyzed and summarized include, but are not limited to, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, reinsurance, ESG, disaster recovery/business continuity, anti-money laundering/OFAC, investments, and holding company act matters. Monitors and analyzes emerging regulatory trends and legislation using information from Government Affairs, communications from trade associations, and other sources, while consulting with the VP of Regulatory Affairs/Corporate Governance and functional areas to determine impact and risk. Advises company personnel on routine legal issues, trends, and risks impacting corporate governance, operational practices, and relationships with outside parties. Prepares summary presentations/communications for delivery to Assurant stakeholders in a concise and relevant manner. Takes part in managing Assurant's trade association relationships and interests and participates in monitoring the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and National Council of Insurance Legislators. Fosters strong working relationships with business leaders, in-house business attorneys, the Government Relations team, and Compliance Team. Presents legal perspectives and reports on applicable issues to internal clients. A current license to practice law in a US jurisdiction is required.
