Kern Heath Consumer Center Supervising Staff Attorney The candidate will develop and assist in outreach to health consumers; provide technical expertise on health care law to a range of community based organizations; and participate in projects involving systemic or policy issues impacting large numbers of low-income health care consumers. Will assist in the analysis of managed care cases, coordinating with advocates in partner organizations with consumer assistance projects statewide, manage a caseload of health advocacy cases performing all functions from intake to case management to representation, negotiation, administrative hearings, plan grievances, litigation and systems advocacy; provide on-going legal research and supervising staff. Must be an active member of the California Bar with thorough knowledge in a range of health care access issues affecting low-income individuals including eligibility, access to care, affordability with emphasis on managed care delivery systems issues; must have excellent analytical, organizational and writing skills; strong oral and written communication skills; strong litigation skills in California courts. Bilingual capacity in Spanish is strongly preferred. Must have knowledge in a range of health care access issues affecting. Should have 1-3 years of experience to manage a caseload of health advocacy cases performing. Should have JD degree.
