Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to Life Sciences, including molecular biology, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze the patentability of inventions.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions, including amendments and arguments.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and provide strategic patent advice.
  • Review and interpret scientific literature and patent documents to support patent applications.
  • Manage and maintain patent portfolios, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with USPTO regulations.
  • Provide technical and legal guidance on patent matters to clients and internal teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in patent law affecting the Life Sciences sector.

Requirements

  • USPTO registration as a Patent Agent.
  • At least 3 years of direct patent prosecution experience in the Life Sciences field.
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences (., . in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven expertise in molecular biology is highly desirable.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise patent documents.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Education
