ProfileAssociate General Counsel The candidate will advise on programmatic and procurement contract matters. Will review, develop, and negotiate agreements involving funding of research and other programmatic awards (e.g., engagement, dissemination, implementation, and research infrastructure awards) as well as vendor agreements for operational needs. Advise on organizational oversight and monitoring of these agreements. Provide input on policies and procedures and support PCORI departments and committees. Provide general in-house counsel advice on other matters, including intellectual property, operations, governance, and conflict of interest issues. Manage outside counsel's work and associated expenses, as appropriate. Work independently with professionals in other PCORI departments, including programmatic and contracting teams, and other members of the Office of the General Counsel and Executive Office, and report to the General Counsel. Must have Juris Doctorate degree. from a top tier. Must hold a license to practice law in Washington, DC or eligible for admission within the first year of employment at PCORI. Must have 5+ years of legal experience. Training at a top tier law firm is essential. Subject matter expertise in commercially-sponsored or federally or privately-funded clinical research, healthcare, health plan coverage, and/or health data and related federal regulatory framework is expected. Experience with drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating contracts is required, and knowledge of clinical trial agreements is highly desirable. Government experience or in-house experience at a life sciences company, academic medical center, health system, health plan, federal health-related and/or research grant agency, or clinical research funder or sponsor preferred. Experience with clinical trial agreements and/or academic health centers is preferred.
