Director Privacy Compliance PSJH The candidate represents Providence St Joseph Health and cooperates with outside regulators, including the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG), and state regulators in any compliance reviews or investigations. Provide strategic advice to region/local privacy officers in dealing with state regulators. Leads and sets strategic direction for a privacy oversight committee that includes the region privacy officers, Information Security, Health Information Management and others as required. Processes and coordinates on all privacy matters. Leads incident management response for significant privacy events and partners with Information Security on events involving electronic protected health information. Advises region privacy officers as a subject matter expert on other incident management response teams. Serves as information privacy consultant to the organization, including advising on strategic focus areas such as Big Data projects, Population Health and Digital Innovations. Advises and counsels health care constituents on best practices, new technologies, institution-wide risks, and builds in privacy by design to mitigate privacy and security. Oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of; and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of; and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information privacy practices risks.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Master's degree in Healthcare administration, business administration or related field. Should have 8+ years of demonstrated experience in a complex healthcare organization. Must have 7+ years Privacy related experience. Should have 7+ years Leadership related experience. Must have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of information privacy laws and standards. Should have certification in privacy. Should preferably have JD/LLM law degree Or equivalent educ/experience. Should have 3+ years Healthcare compliance, a regulatory environment or other relevant work experience covering the OIG suggested seven fundamental elements of an effective compliance program.
