Profile

Auditor Duties: The candidate works as a junior auditor as a member of an audit team. Completes segments of an audit guide as directed. Organizes and summarizes audit data to support finding elements. Assists in writing segments of draft and final reports. Develops audit recommendations for management action. Maintains security and accountability of classified information.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: The candidate should have completed all requirements for an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the preceding 2 years or graduate within the next 9 months;

Basic Requirements
Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
Combination of education and experience: At least 4 years of professional accounting experience or an equivalent combination of professional accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses or a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria for the GS-07 grade level:
52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service utilizing basic knowledge of auditing and/or accounting principles and procedures; working as part of an auditing and/or accounting team; and accomplishing basic auditing and/or accounting data collection.
OR
One year of graduate level education in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance or public administration. An academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or directly related major and meet Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). S.A.A. is based on class standing, grade-point average, or honor society membership. (1) Class standing - Must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Grade-point average (GPA) - Must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society-Applicant can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above.

For GS-09: 52 weeks of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service utilizing knowledge of auditing and/or accounting principles and procedures in the planning and execution of audits.
OR
Having completed, or within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement will have completed, a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. that may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above.
