ProfileParalegal The candidate will manage contractors’ license qualification and application process and renewals. Conduct legal research to establish and verify requirements. Will manage state and local business license registrations, including renewal requirements. Manage internal publication of state and local license renewal information; establish notification requirements and best practices to ensure accuracy of information. Respond to discovery requests made to the company, as well as conduct privilege reviews of hard copy and electronic copy documents. Work directly with Secretary of all firm companies in creating, finalizing and filing certain corporate governance documents. Perform notary functions as required. Research political contribution limitations, and draft filings for reporting to agencies. Subcontract management. Maintain and update the legal portion of the firm’s intranet, as appropriate. Administer creation and updating of information in the matter management system, and coordinate with outside counsel to provide requisite information regarding case status, budget, and invoices. Receive, log, and distribute incoming Legal Mail and distribute Service of Process including subpoenas, lawsuits, and other notices. Maintain various spreadsheets, databases and lists containing legal related information, includinghistorical litigation information and bond matters. Compose and/or edit letters, memos, and reports, as required. Assist in the support of other Department or Division personnel as requested. Work directly with Operations of various subsidiaries, other Departments, external contacts, and clients including evaluating priorities, issue resolution, work coordination, and determining best course of action in maintaining working relationships and public relations as required. Manage in-house legal and qualifier reference materials library. Oversee corporate record maintenance and archiving processing utilizing TABFusion system. Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. College degree in business administration, paralegal study, or related field (equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements) is needed. Should have 3+ years’ experience performing paralegal, contract or administrative support duties, preferably in a law firm or legal department. Strong sense of accountability, integrity and taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner and business writing skills are needed. Advanced knowledge and use of word-processing, spreadsheet and database software, including SharePoint, Serengeti and Excel is needed. Should preferably have paralegal certification from an accredited college or university. Notary is preferred. Working knowledge of construction methodology and documents are preferred.
