Senior Legal Counsel, Security and Resiliency The candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to SRO management and team members related to creating, reviewing, and revising policies, procedures, protocols and reporting requirements related to product security, cybersecurity, physical security, supply chain security, and enterprise resiliency (crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery). Will manage the review of customer information security schedules and provide guidance for contract negotiations. Contribute to the ongoing creation and update of legal templates and playbooks associated with security. Provide legal awareness and compliance training to legal colleagues and business clients. Perform legal research on emerging issues confronting the security organization. Collaborate with global subject matter experts to assist with research and compliance efforts to ensure effective compliance programs. Contribute with a positive attitude within the SRO Legal team and the Legal department.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. degree and admission to practice law in the US. Must have 8+ years of relevant experience. Understanding of cybersecurity regulations (e.g. GLBA, HIPAA, NYDFS, GDPR, CCPA, et al) and cybersecurity frameworks / standards to include ISO27011 and NIST CSF is required. Extensive experience with counseling clients on cybersecurity and IT compliance and risk management is needed. Familiarity with emerging global cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulatory frameworks and associated compliance regimes is desired. Experience with supporting cybersecurity breach litigation is an asset. Experience negotiating security controls and requirements is ideal. Should preferably understand IT and Security technical concepts and methodologies and have ability to communicate and discuss technical concepts. Legal project management experience is helpful.
