ProBAR Children - Senior Paralegal HRL The candidate will provide paralegal support and assistance to assigned legal staff. Prepares legal filings and documents (e.g., immigration applications, correspondence, translations, etc.) as directed. Will assist with training and mentorship of paralegals and other legal support staff. Assesses the urgency of situations and determines appropriate actions, monitors status of pending items, and provides updates/feedback to appropriate legal team members. Oversees client case files as directed by staff attorneys and Accredited Representatives. Monitors case activities and maintains the data integrity of case management systems. Accesses, processes, and ensures the confidentiality and control of client information. Assists with referral of clients to pro bono counsel as directed. Conducts and assists with coordination and tracking of other legal services as necessary. May require travel to detention facilities several times a week to work with detained detainees. Performs other related duties as required. Should have Four-year degree from an accredited U.S. institution of higher education or 2+ years of equivalent experience as a paralegal. Must have fluency in English and Spanish in written and spoken forms. Must have intermediate proficiency in both the Microsoft Office Suite of products and with Google tools and products. Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Prior volunteer, community, or work experience regarding immigration or detention is preferred. Prior work experience with children, particularly from Central America and including Mayan language-speaking populations is preferred. Prior non-profit experience, particularly involving field work or work in remote locations is preferred. Possession of a current certificate of completion of an firm's-approved paralegal program is preferred.
