ProfileParalegal The candidate will provide administrative and legal support to office. Will screen case referrals from domestic violence advocates in 12 counties, will provide legal support to the two attorneys in the office, and will coordinate a contract referral program to private attorneys. Work under attorney supervision as part of a legal team to provide legal advice and representation to clients in civil matters (primarily domestic violence) by: providing litigation support to the staff attorneys as needed; screening and interviewing potential clients (averaging approximately 500/year over the past two years); participating in community education and outreach events; administering the contract referral program (including assisting in the recruitment and retention of private attorneys); maintaining records in LANC’s case management system; providing general office support (e.g., reception services for telephone and in-person visitors, ordering office supplies); and fulfilling any other office responsibilities that may be assigned. Must have commitment to public interest and to advocacy on behalf of low-income people and domestic violence victims. Should have completion of a paralegal associates two year degree or any four year degree. Excellent organizational and computer skills is required.
