Compliance Specialist The candidate will support the mission by providing compliance services to Marketing, the OPTAVIA division, and the franchise and wholesale division. Will assist in the enforcement of the policies and procedures set forth by and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) with focus, understanding and involvement on the marketing initiatives. Responds to all compliance related inquiries from the OPTAVIA field sales force and franchise division within 72 business hours to ensure they can advertise and promote their businesses in a manner that is compliant. Responds to all inquiries from internal Corporate and OPTAVIA marketing teams within 24-48 business hours. Monitors, instructs, and enforces compliance within the OPTAVIA field sales force, Corporate Firm and the franchise and wholesale division. Interpret and/or clarify OPTAVIA Policies and Procedures and other compliance-related materials for Coaches, on an as needed basis. Effectively utilizes applicable databases, the internet and internal and external sources to perform various systems and other research with respect to OPTAVIA field sales force activities, including monitoring for Policy violations, as well as fraudulent activities. Handles Coach co-branded website monitoring for compliance issues and enforcement of same. Aids in the research and reports on Coaches and franchisees engaging in noncompliant practices. Reduces the number of e-bay and other secondary market sales. Works with each business unit to create corporate, franchise and field advertising and Coach compliance guidance documents. Maintains compliance with FTC Consent Decree, participate in training on FTC and advertising rules. Attends regular OPTAVIA staff and Policy Committee meetings. Prepares and presents professional, objective and complete materials with respect to Companyâ€™s Policy Committee with respect to OPTAVIA field sales force Policy violations. Reviews all marketing materials received from franchisees for compliance (radio/television ads, flyers, etc.), monitor franchise co-branded websites and any social media platforms/web presence for any compliance-related issues. Assist as back-up for other Legal Department and Compliance Department projects as the need may arise.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Paralegal Certificate, Certification, or Associates or higher degree in Paralegal studies or Communications. 0-2 years related experience in regulatory and intellectual property practice areas is preferred. 0-2 years in Marketing environment is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skill is preferred. Strong interpersonal skill is preferred.
