Trademark Paralegal The candidate will daily mail review and data entry for filings submitted to USPTO, communications received from USPTO, and communications between Biogen and foreign associates. Will reconcile CPI database records, files and USPTO and foreign trademark office records. Import/profile documents into paperless filing system on an ongoing basis. Conduct preliminary domestic and international screening searches via online database, and Internet searches. Request and review full search reports and make recommendations; supervise outside investigations. File U.S. trademark applications, Statements of Use, Extensions of Time, Renewals, Section 8 and 15 Affidavits, Assignments, Notices of Opposition and related documents. Draft responses to U.S. Office Action letters. Instruct and liaise with foreign associates regarding clearance and filing of applications, prosecution and renewals; foreign oppositions. Liaise with internal clients and outside counsel to gather evidence in connection with domestic and foreign conflicts. Monitor and set up alerts for competitor activity. Assist with adversarial proceedings and communicate with and advise in-house clients. Must have 10+ years of patent experience at a law firm and/or corporate in-house experience including domestic and international searching, clearance, filings, prosecution and docketing. Should have proficiency with the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) applications. Working knowledge of Anaqua or other similar search database is required. Should have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Should have a minimum of an Associateâ€™s Degree, a Paralegal certificate/license or equivalent education. A Bachelorâ€™s Degree is a plus.
