Legal Review And Compliance Task Force Analyst (attorney) The candidate duties encompass the following activities:Freedom of Information Law Duties:• Become familiar with the requirements of the New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), and relevant case law. Track all FOIL requests received by company, and work with the New York City Law Department, City Hall and staff to determine an appropriate response. Utilize the e-discovery tools available to company, including Clearwell’s e-discovery platform, to gather and analyze company records. Ensure that all FOIL requests are answered in a timely and appropriate manner, and that documents and materials provided in response to FOIL requests are redacted as appropriate and do not violate any related-confidentiality laws or restrictions. Track FOIL appeals and aid in the preparation of responses to potential litigation related to such appeals. Litigation Preservation Duties: In coordination with the New York City Law Department, gather all documents and emails required to be preserved by staff as part of any anticipated litigation against the City of New York. Capital Projects: Become familiar with City and State laws, policies, and regulations governing capital grants (i.e., proceeds of City bond issues) for not-for-profit organizations, such as hospitals, health clinics, community centers, and cultural groups.Review and evaluate applications for capital grants to not-for-profit organizations.Track capital grants to not-for-profit organizations and draft related contracts and agreements.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college. Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school at the time they begin employment. Must be either (i) licensed to practice law in New York State and in good standing with the New York State Bar or (ii) eligible for and seeking admission to New York State Bar. Should have outstanding attention to detail and the ability to review, understand, and explain complex legislation. Must have persistence in gathering required information from diverse sources. Should have ability to clearly organize and present complex information. Must have ability to maintain and adhere to strict deadlines for information dissemination.
