ProfileSenior IP Paralegal The candidate reports to the Manager of Global IP Operations. This position supports the Global IP Team and will have significant interaction with the VP and Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property. Will support company's global patent processes with a core set of administrative tasks and responsibilities as a patent paralegal, under limited instruction; Support 2-4 patent attorneys or agents with their prosecution dockets; Participate in weekly or bi-weekly docket meetings with patent attorney(s); Review docket for deadlines; understand docket and deadlines and action needed on each matter using FoundationIP (FIP); Create and prepare reports using FIP, as needed; Assist with acquisition and divestiture workflows; Assist with the administration and management of company's Inventor Incentive Program; Partner with Outside Counsel and communicate directly regarding patent prosecution requirements for both US and non-US matters; Remain abreast of new Patent Office Rules and filing procedures, alert the Global IP Operations Team of new procedures and rules relating to patent practice and attend appropriated training classes; Design and implement new policies, procedures, or systems related to the Global IP Operations Team.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelors Degree or University Degree or equivalent. It is preferred the candidate has an associate degree in paralegal studies degree or paralegal certificate. Must have 5 years of related working experience as a patent or IP paralegal, preferably in large corporate IP departments, or law firm. Should have knowledge of all areas of administrative support for a corporate patent law practice is essential and will be demonstrated by a history of successfully supporting patent attorneys and patent agents who specialize in the preparation and prosecution of US and non -US patent matters. Must have proficiency in US, PCT, EPO and other country law as it relates to prosecution and deadlines. Willing and eligibile to be commissioned as a notary public in California is required. Should have advanced experience using FoundationIP, including advanced knowledge of report building. Must have strong proficiency using MS Office, particularly Excel and Word; Adobe Acrobat, FoundationIP and Legal Tracker. Experience using various software tools including PAIR and ESPace is required. Should have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Familiarity in working in complex global teams with multiple stakeholders (attorneys and managers) is required.
