ProfileStaff Attorney Duties: Provide legal representation to low-income families and work closely with pediatricians and other healthcare providers at hospitals and clinics to develop impact advocacy and creative strategies to combat health-harming legal needs. Advocate for policy changes designed to help improve health and justice outcomes for vulnerable populations and decrease health disparities. The project is a collaboration and area children’s hospitals and clinics.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Membership in Ohio Bar or ability to be admitted by motion or temporary certification is required. 2+ years legal experience, including federal impact litigation experience, preferred. Previous experience in areas of special education, housing law, government benefits, or poverty law in general is highly preferred. Must have an interest in systemic advocacy and community lawyering. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be experienced in working in collaborative and group environments. Excellent legal and communication skills; experience with case management software and Microsoft Office; familiarity with database and GIS mapping software preferred. Ability to relate well with low income clients and commitment to legal services to the poor required. Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish is helpful.
