Director, Pharma Counsel - Commercial The candidate will act as counsel for assigned clients on broad range of commercial contracting and other legal matters. Proactively manage legal issues via coordination with Legal Centers of Excellence, Legal management and other firm functions, as appropriate. Will provide legal counsel and risk management advice on complex commercial contracts, including contracts with suppliers, vendors, managed care customers and specialty pharmacies as well as corporate transactions (e.g. licensing, co-promotions). Partner with commercial, regulatory, and medical colleagues to ensure timely review of all promotional materials. Contribute actively to promotional review team by evaluating potential risk and providing counsel. Ensure coordination with other legal associates supporting brand to ensure consistency. Partner with Ethics and Compliance to proactively identify and manage potential compliance risk. Ensure compliance with all government regulations and mandates. Drive innovation and actively contribute to new strategies supporting business and contracting goals. Make appropriate judgment calls during times of ambiguity and can lead team through new legal territory. Pursue calculated risk-taking in an unpredictable environment with appropriate contingency planning and continually challenge status quo. Actively contribute to Legal Function though participating in initiatives to build departmental knowledge and capabilities by sharing best practices. Partners with colleagues to contribute expertise as needed. JD degree or equivalent degree. Should have 5+ years of Related Experience in legal counseling role in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or major law firm is needed. Strong experience in Commercial Contract drafting skills are needed. Advanced knowledge of legal issues affecting the pharma/biotech industry, including regulatory, commercial, privacy, and digital/social media is needed. Thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical business and related legal issues is needed. Strong business acumen is needed. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills is needed. Strong negotiation and conflict management skills are needed.
