Employee Benefits Compliance Analyst The candidate will lead clients through benefit plan operational and administrative compliance review projects, including full scope simulated ERISA reviews, limited scope reviews and fiduciary due diligence reviews. Review in-force plan documents, including certificates of coverage, summary plan descriptions, Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) and more for documentary ERISA compliance. Communicate findings of formal and informal compliance review projects to Lockton account teams, and cooperatively formalize recommendations for clients to address identified red flag items or implement best practice improvements. Lead the presentation of review findings with clients and prospective clients, either via phone/video conferencing or in-person. Prepare and/or update periodic compliance publications, charts, grids, calendars, reporting and disclosure packets, and other routine client-facing or internal associate-facing resources. Prepare and present webcasts and live, in-person presentations on the position’s subject matter expertise, especially information pertaining to ERISA fiduciary duty and federal and state regulatory enforcement trends. Build strong relationships with internal Associates, external partners, and clients of the firm. Support other national ERISA compliance practice needs as they arise.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a college degree; a post-secondary graduate degree, such as a law degree or MBA is preferred. Should have 3 years of experience in the employee benefits/ERISA field, with a preferred focus on federal regulatory compliance of health and welfare benefit plans. Service-oriented attitude. This position requires the support of clients of the firm, and of internal associates who work under demanding timelines, and often with limited knowledge of ERISA compliance matters. A pleasant, service-oriented attitude, and ability to communicate complex concepts in a practical, common-sense manner, is critical. The professional in this position will have the primary responsibility to present findings of compliance review activities and provide suggested action steps to clients and prospective clients of the firm. Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to articulate complex concepts. Solid project management, time management, and organizational skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) or similar software applications. Experience with platform building applications, such as HotDocs, is also preferred.
