Staff Attorney - Family Law The candidate will be part of the Survivor and Family Empowerment (SAFE) Project and be responsible for coordinating and providing family law legal assistance. Focuses on assisting domestic violence survivors, as well as the indigent and limited-English proficient immigrant community. Will carry a case load and report to the Supervising Attorney. Handle a variety of family law cases, including domestic violence restraining orders, dissolution of marriage cases, paternity cases, child custody and child support hearings, and other related family law matters; Counseling and advising clients on their legal rights, preparing court forms and documents, conducting legal research and representing clients in court; Coordinate client service with legal interns, partner social service groups, and through community legal clinics; Coordinate and conduct education and outreach presentations at community forums and trainings; Produce periodic progress reports to funders, and develop and revise unit materials including training manuals and client brochures. Must be active membership in California State Bar. 1-5 year experience in family law or poverty law area preferred. Should have experience in domestic violence advocacy and/or a sincere commitment to working on behalf of domestic violence survivors. Prior experience handling independent projects or assignments, with legal services preferred. Bilingual ability in English and Asian language required (Korean and Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred).
