International Trade Compliance Paralegal The candidate will provide support to those in the company with expertise in U.S. import and export compliance-related requirements, procedures, and best practices. Will report to the International Trade Compliance Project Manager, and will report escalated compliance-related matters to the Deputy Compliance Officer and the Chief Legal Officer. Obtain and assist with maintaining records required for compliance with federal law, including the Lacey Act, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other statutes and regulations. Assist with maintaining records pertaining to compliance and sourcing matters, including records related to laws regarding sourcing plants and plant products. Report to the International Trade Compliance Project Manager in all matters relating to Purchase Orders to purchase plant or plant products. Liaison with the Sourcing team to identify purchases of plant and plant products. Conduct research about the legal harvest, manufacturing, exportation and importation of plants and plant products as assigned. Communicate with International Law Firms that specialize in environmental issues relating to the trade of plants and plant products as assigned. Liaison with third party auditors that specialize in the legal harvest of plants and plant products as assigned. Coordinate and maintain records pertaining to suppliers, products, legal requirements, etc. Assist with the completion of supplier and product compliance evaluations and circulate for proper approvals. Assist with auditing import and export requirements of certain product purchase files, confirm records are complete and authenticated. Assist with auditing sourcing requirements of certain product purchase files, confirm records are complete and authenticated. Assist with identification and evaluation of supply chain documentation. Assist with preparation of memos and other correspondence. Coordinate and confirm that proper agreements for imported plants and plant products are signed and filed for each purchase order of imported goods. Maintain document storage and retrieval mechanisms. Maintain document retention schedules. Coordinate with various teams on audits and monitoring to assure compliance with laws and regulations. Should have excellent oral/written communication skills. Experience with international consumer product desirable. Experience with U.S. Customs Focused Assessments desirable.
