Assistant United States Attorney The candidate will join other criminal AUSAs who handle a wide variety litigation. The Criminal Division investigates and prosecutes federal cases arising from a wide array of criminal activity. The typical criminal caseload for an attorney may involve major drug cases, gang-related violent crimes, other crimes of violence, computer crimes including child pornography, and sophisticated white collar offenses. An AUSA engaged in this challenging work spends substantial time developing cases with investigators, researching and writing, and preparing for trials, sentencings, and other hearing. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.

Qualification and Experience

A J.D. degree and active member of the Bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) required. Must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. experience. Should have outstanding academic records and superior legal research and writing skills will be considered. Should possess strong oral and written communication skills, legal research and writing skills, interpersonal skills and exercise fair and sound judgment. Additionally, it is desired that the successful candidate have strong academic credentials.
