Immigration Services Analyst, GS 5 - 9 Duties: Review and analyze contents of records and databases; identify documents needed to respond to inquiries from internal and external customers. Prepare written responses to information requests using correct verbiage, grammar, and spelling; write synopses of complex cases in clear and concise language appropriate to the situation and the reader. Conduct data queries; validate, analyze, and correct data; create detailed summaries for internal and external customers. Answer calls in a Call Center environment, taking in required information relevant to the nature of the request and providing accurate, useful information to customers making general inquiries, verifying the authenticity of the caller. Making accurate and timely updates to national databases to indicate the current file location (NFTS) and reflect all immigration-related actions and biographical data documented in files (CIS); recognizing and correcting problems in electronic systems to reflect actions documented in Alien Files. Closing Date: 03/16/2018.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications
GS-05: Must qualify at the GS-05 level if possess 1 year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal government, that equipped with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have experience performing the following duties: Write detailed office memoranda and letters to be approved for final use; Read and compile instructions to complete a task; providing services to internal customers with positive results; Conduct data entry for official records; Work with others and reaching a workable solution to accomplish assigned tasks; Provide basic information from systems and files to assist with information requests; Work in a team environment in completing multi-task jobs with time constraints. OR
May substitute successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a Bachelor's degree for the experience required at the GS-05 grade level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.
GS-07: Must qualify at the GS-07 level if possess 1 year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal government, that equipped with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have experience performing the following duties: Read and compile instructions to complete a task; Provide case synopses by e-mail in response to routine inquires; Service internal customers with positive results; has experience in data entry for official records; Experience in working with others and reaching a workable solution to accomplish assigned tasks; OR
May substitute successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education for the experience required at the GS-07 level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work of the position.
May also substitute superior academic achievement for the experience required at the GS-07 level. Must have completed the requirements for a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society.
GS-09: Must qualify at the GS-09 level if possess 1 year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have experience performing the following duties: Write official correspondence and documentation for publication; Review and apply knowledge from regulations and providing analysis to customers; Write analysis of cases for others to be used in making decisions; Work with customers of various backgrounds and levels of understanding to satisfy complex requests; Review, interpret, and apply guidelines to specific cases; Utilize databases and records and interpret the contents accurately and fully; Draw conclusions using official records by reviewing and analyzing to assist with adjudication of cases; Work as a member of a team which completed multi-task customer requests with short time limits on a daily basis; Accomplish workload with no assistance and minimum supervisory oversight; OR
May substitute a Master's degree or 2 full years of graduate education leading to such a degree in any field or a J.D. or L.L.B. degree for experience required at the GS-09 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
