Property Tax Appraisal Attorney Duties : Serves as an Assistant County Counselor, acting with substantial discretion, and is responsible for providing non-standardized, complex legal service and counsel to firm's and its officials, and to the departments and agencies within Johnson County. Frequent contact with County Executives and Elected officials, as well as community leaders and officials of State and Federal Government Agencies. Requires high levels of experience and specialized expertise, primarily in the areas of property tax law, litigation, and proceedings before the Kansas State Board of Tax Appeals, in-depth interpretation of technical and detailed guidelines, laws and regulations, policies, and procedures, and requires an in-depth understanding of the fundamental methods of real property appraisals and the operation of local government. In addition, depending upon the interests and experience of the applicant, may be responsible for bankruptcy claim proceedings, code enforcement, or other municipal government matters.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : A Juris Doctorate and active Kansas License to practice law are required. Must have 12+ yearsâ€™ experience exhibiting technical and operational mastery of the law, primarily in municipal law and/or property tax appraisals, with preference given to the public sector are necessary for Senior Attorney status. Fewer years of experience may be considered depending upon the type and magnitude of the experience.
