A law firm in Portland, OR is seeking a Senior Labor, Employment, and Workplace Safety Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of litigation experience, particularly in wage and hour issues and single-plaintiff discrimination and harassment matters. The role involves drafting and reviewing employment policies, agreements, and separation documents, as well as handling labor and employment aspects of business transactions like mergers and acquisitions. Prior experience with traditional labor relations is a plus. Candidates should be licensed in Oregon or eligible for licensure in Oregon; licenses in Washington and California (with PAGA experience) are also beneficial. The position offers active mentoring and opportunities for increased responsibility and client contact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review employment policies, offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
  • Advise on labor and employment aspects of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Handle litigation involving wage and hour issues and single-plaintiff discrimination and harassment matters.
  • Provide legal counsel on workplace safety and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients on complex employment issues.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Stay current on employment law trends and developments to provide up-to-date legal advice.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of litigation experience in labor and employment law.
  • Experience with wage and hour disputes and single-plaintiff discrimination and harassment matters.
  • Prior experience with traditional labor relations is a plus.
  • Licensed to practice law in Oregon or eligible for licensure in Oregon; licenses in Washington and California (with PAGA experience) are advantageous.
  • Strong academic credentials and professional background.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Advanced coursework or certifications in employment law or related areas is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Oregon or eligibility for licensure in Oregon.
  • Licenses in Washington and California (with PAGA experience) are beneficial.

Skills:

  • Excellent drafting and review skills for employment-related documents.
  • Strong litigation skills with the ability to handle complex employment issues.
  • Proficiency in managing cases through all phases of litigation.
