Senior Counsel The candidate will review accounts and work with collections and payment compliance departments to reverse denials, resolve underpayments, combat payer stalls and otherwise collect on accounts receivables. Manage and resolve bankruptcy, receivership, lien, third party auto injury and worker’s compensation issues related to the collection of receivables. In conjunction with the Parallon Legal team and HCA Legal Department, manage outside counsel litigation against payers, as necessary. Handle third-party subpoenas and discovery requests. Provide legal advice to the SSC and recommend policies on such topics as debt collection; credit reporting; balance billing; hospital liens, bankruptcy; risk management; and health information management. Support the negotiation and contracting process for SSC local vendor agreements. Supervise paralegal and other legal personnel. Serve as liaison to Parallon Legal team, HCA Legal Department and outside counsel. Must have JD from accredited Law School. Should have 10+ years of legal experience, at least some of which should include dealing with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other collection agency requirements; ideal candidate will have substantial experience working with insurance companies and other third parties in the collection of patient receivables. Experience in estate/probate, lien law, workers compensation, bankruptcy, healthcare law, and collection of healthcare receivables preferred. Must have experience in drafting and negotiating contracts. License in good standing in the state of Tennessee required.
