Senior Counsel, Content Protection
The candidate under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Global Content Protection Legal, will assist with domestic and international content protection civil litigation and legal support for the worldwide content protection department. Advise member companies and personnel on US and international content protection and copyright matters. Assist in the coordination of content protection civil litigation worldwide, with an emphasis on US litigation. Coordinate and communicate with member studios and outside counsel in support of content protection legal issues and cases – both orally and in written communications. Assist in assuring compliance with data protection and privacy obligations in the sharing of information related to content protection efforts between the Association’s regions. Provide in-house legal support to US content protection program and participate in the creation and execution of global content protection strategies. Provide legal support for all aspects of worldwide content protection litigation and enforcement efforts, including monitoring important case developments, reviewing documents, drafting affidavits and correspondence, supervising issues related to confirmation of member titles and rights, and providing assistance in factual and legal case research. Supervising pre-litigation investigation efforts, which may include coordinating the sending of cease and desist notices to potential targets, drafting settlement agreements, and reviewing documents as needed.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Juris Doctor degree and experience with civil litigation and copyright law is required; data protection and/or privacy experience is helpful. Should have 3-5 years of experience practicing law in a law firm or corporate legal department. Must possess the highest level of professionalism, work ethic and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information. Should have demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in large groups to achieve consensus on significant legal issues. Must possess excellent analytical, legal, research and writing skills. Must have demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to organize workload for effective implementation is required. Must have demonstrated ability to write correspondence and reports to present information in one-on-one and group situations. Must possess the ability to work independently and to gather, analyze and disseminate information accurately and in a timely manner. Must display sound judgment, initiative and the ability to work as part of a team. Must possess the ability to effectively interface with a variety of people and work well under stressful situations.
