Director, Business Affairs
The candidate will be primarily responsible for negotiating development, talent and production deals on behalf of E! in connection with unscripted entertainment, programming, E! News and E! Live Events. Will report to the Vice President , Business Affairs. Handle the day-to-day business affairs issues for entertainment programming projects in development and in current production, as well as for E! News, E! Live From the Red Carpet and the E! People’s Choice Awards. Negotiate development, licensing and production deals in connection with the development and series production of unscripted entertainment, news and live event programming for E!. Draft short-form deal memos and review longform agreements for accuracy of terms negotiated. Interface and coordinate with the following departments: creative, production, casting, legal affairs, promotions, communications, finance, music, distribution, marketing, business development, and digital media.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have 5+ years of professional experience at a major law firm or media company. Must have Juris Doctorate degree and Bar Admission. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. 3 years of relevant experience negotiating television development/production deals in a business and/or legal affairs department at a media company and/or entertainment legal practice strongly preferred. Prior experience negotiating between studio and network a plus. Working knowledge of WGA, SAG, AFTRA, and DGA rules a plus. Strong professional relationships with talent representatives and business/legal affairs executives is preferred. Strong and effective negotiating skill is desired. Excellent drafting and analytical skill is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a range of personalities and styles and establish productive relationships at all levels of the organization is preferred.
