Corporate Counsel (Marketing/Trademarks) The candidate will provide legal advice and support for the company's Marketing, PR, Corporate Communications, Internal Communications and Web teams within the Chief Marketing Officerâ€™s organization and the Investor Relations team. Perform pre-publication reviews of marketing/advertising/PR content and packaging for compliance issues. Work on sponsorships, contests and sweepstakes, user generated content, content production and development. Counsel and train clients on advertising law compliance, policy, and process, including native advertising, testimonials and endorsements, claim substantiation, and digital and print disclosures. Report to Senior Corporate Counsel managing marketing/trademarks and also work closely with the Trademarks paralegal. Must have active U.S. Bar license or Ontario, Canada bar license in good standing. Should have 1-3 years of experience in the above areas as an attorney in a law firm and/or corporate in-house setting. Working knowledge of the law pertaining to marketing, trademarks, privacy, data security and social media is needed. Strong academic credentials is must. Experience drafting/interpreting co-marketing agreements with developers or third parties for assets used in marketing materials is essential. Experience analyzing legal risk and compliance of materials and issues that deal with influencer marketing, social media platforms, packaging, misleading claims and claims substantiation, copyright infringement, and ancillary matters is needed. Experience developing and providing training to internal clients on legal requirements is required.
