Paralegal Responsibilities: Assists attorneys in discovery and pre-trial matters under attorney supervision. Assists attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering other legal services under attorney supervision. Assists attorneys in discovery, pre-trial matters and/or trial preparation. Drafts pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings, and other documents as assigned. Assists in trial preparation and strategy development, and actively participates in courtroom as attorney's assistant. Assist two full-time attorneys with discovery, medical record collection, witness disclosure, expert witness preparation and pre-trial motions in first and third party insurance defense cases.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A qualified paralegal should have 3-5 years of civil litigation experience in personal injury cases. Litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree or certificate and/or medical training is required. Education, experience, and thorough understanding of litigation process in state of operation and local jurisdiction. Understanding of local, state and federal rules. Understanding and experience with medical records and terminology. Legal writing and research skills and knowledge of proper format and citations.
