Patent Paralegal The candidate will be reviewing office actions and other communications from patent offices and reporting the same to the client. Preparing office action response shells for attorneys. Preparing formal documents, forwarding them to client for signature and filing with various patent offices. Daily monitoring of docket and taking appropriate steps to clear deadlines. Working closely with docketing staff to ensure all dates are docketed. Communicating with USPTO personnel as needed. Handling and processing foreign associate invoices. Other tasks as assigned. Knowledge and execution of US patent filings via EFS. Knowledge and management of foreign patent prosecution and working with foreign agents. Should have a Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience with patent docketing and/or prosecution administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with Intellectual Property filing and prosecution rules and regulations. Experience in patent prosecution and with a focus on filing US and foreign patent documents in a variety of countries. Solid experience filing patent applications. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with great attention to detail, interacting with all levels of firm personnel and with clients. Ability to develop and document processes and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of foreign associates. Strong knowledge of Windows-based software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; documents management systems, including Worksite (or iManage), docketing systems, such as CPi. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to take the initiative to accomplish objectives in a timely manner while demonstrating professionalism. Knowledge of U.S. and foreign procedures and processes relating to patent prosecution and filing patent applications. Experience working in a law firm environment.
