Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Commercial Real Estate Associate to join its team in Charleston, South Carolina. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in commercial real estate law, handling a range of real estate transactions and legal matters. This role involves providing legal counsel to clients, including developers, investors, and lenders, in areas such as acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leasing, zoning, and joint ventures. The position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and the chance to handle complex real estate transactions independently.

Location:

  • Charleston, SC

Duties:

  • Represent clients in acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leases, development, zoning, and joint ventures.
  • Provide legal counsel to developers, investors, and lenders in real property secured financings.
  • Negotiate and draft agreements for various real estate transactions.
  • Represent clients in zoning appeals, property tax assessments, and workforce housing agreements.
  • Handle a range of real estate matters, including corporate governance, equity investments, and ownership structures.
  • Manage and close complex real estate transactions independently.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate law.
  • Proven experience representing clients in a variety of real estate transactions.
  • Strong expertise in real estate finance, zoning, entitlement, and land use.
  • Ability to independently manage and close complex real estate deals.
  • Experience negotiating joint ventures and representing developers, lenders, and institutional clients is preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar is preferred or eligibility for admission.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the South Carolina State Bar preferred.
  • Eligible for South Carolina Bar admission if not currently admitted.

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate law, including finance, zoning, and land use.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills for real estate transactions.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle complex real estate matters and work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and collaboration with team members.
