Job Title: Patent Attorney
Job Overview:
A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney with a background in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or polymer physics. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team of skilled patent professionals with a focus on chemical and materials science. Ideal candidates will be able to work remotely or from one of the firm’s offices in Atlanta, Washington, ., or Hartford, Connecticut.
Duties:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications related to organic chemistry, polymers, and materials science on a global scale.
- Collaborate with clients in various industries to develop innovative intellectual property solutions.
- Conduct patent searches, provide strategic patent portfolio management, and offer counseling on intellectual property matters.
- Participate in patent-related due diligence and IP transactions, including licensing agreements.
- Support post-grant proceedings, portfolio evaluation, and litigation services when necessary.
- Manage client relationships and deliver excellent client service with a focus on creativity and legal precision.
Requirements:
- . Patent and Trademark Office registration as a patent attorney.
- A degree in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or polymer physics is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in the field of chemical and materials science.
- A . or Master’s in organic chemistry or polymers is preferred.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry and polymer processing, especially polymer synthesis, composites, and coatings, is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Physics, or a closely related field (Master’s or . preferred).
Certifications:
- . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration as a patent attorney or agent is mandatory.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of patent law and its application to chemical and materials science.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
