Job Overview

A well-established national defense law firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its General Liability Practice Group in Scottsdale, AZ. This role offers an excellent opportunity for attorneys with 1–7 years of experience in general liability, auto liability, medical malpractice, and assisted living/long-term care litigation. The ideal candidate will be committed to effective case management, litigation strategy, and client advocacy while upholding the highest professional standards.

Duties

  • Analyze medical records and case-related documentation
  • Draft initial case reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports, and appellate briefs
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests
  • Draft and respond to discovery-related motions
  • Regularly attend court appearances, including hearings and case management conferences
  • Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses
  • Draft motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions
  • Represent clients in mediation, arbitration, trial, and appellate proceedings

Requirements

  • 1–7 years of experience in general liability, auto liability, medical malpractice, or assisted living/long-term care litigation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal matters
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle discovery-related motions and trial preparation effectively
  • Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions
  • Courtroom advocacy experience preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona

Skills

  • Strong litigation and case management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills
  • Ability to develop and implement effective defense strategies
