Family Law (Litigation) Paralegal Responsibilities: Preparing and responding to discovery (document requests, document productions, interrogatories, requests for admissions, subpoenas and deposition notices, notices in lieu). Reviewing and analyzing discovery responses and documents produced and preparing meet and confer letters regarding/requesting discovery/further discovery. Reviewing and analyzing documents including financial documents. Preparing correspondence and documents including assets and debts schedules, income and expense declarations, and preliminary and final declarations of disclosure. Preparing exhibits, exhibit lists and witness lists for motions, hearings and trials. Serving as a liaison between the client and attorney, conducting client interviews, interfacing with custodian of records and deposition officers. Preparing hearing/trial notebooks and providing assistance at trial. Preparing evidentiary motions to strike.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: BA or BS degree preferred. An associate's degree or paralegal certificate with 5 years of comparable work experience is required. Ability to multitask using analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate flexibility regarding client and legal team requests. Achieve a high level of productivity. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients/contacts. Working knowledge of office accounting methods and techniques, including: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, as well as the ability to learn other programs. Compose and disseminate correspondence as required. Ability to understand tax forms, including federal tax returns and schedules.
