Litigation Paralegal The candidate will collect, organize, and produce documents in response to various types of discovery requests including third party subpoenas, draft written responses to discovery requests, manage litigation calendars, and maintain litigation files. Draft, negotiate, and manage, as directed by the Legal Team, contractual matters, conveying routine information regarding legal and/or contractual issues associated with existing or proposed operational situations. Assist with regulatory and compliance issues, conducting research on specific legal issues or topics, also for the department as a whole. Draft responses to customer or attorney facing correspondence, and/or from the state and from other regulatory authorities. Assist with any questions or legal support needed in the field of 1000+ store locations. Analyze and review real estate leases and other pertinent real estate or leasing documents. Support Employment Counsel and monitor Human Resources matters by investigating, managing, and assisting in the resolution of labor and employment-related issues with all levels of professionals, including outside counsel. Provide case management support, including monitoring and following up on case calendars, filing deadlines, paper and electronic docket research, reviewing drafts, and participating in group strategy discussions. Prepare and conduct or assist with training classes and workshops on various legal and/or related topics as requested by other areas of the Company. Communicate effectively with company employees, corporate department heads, customers, witnesses, and opposing counsel. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional afflictions to keep abreast of latest developments in applicable law and in other related areas. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Paralegal Certificate, OR the equivalent combination of formal education, training, and/or experience. Should have 0-3 years of paralegal experience. Should have previous corporate legal department experience and/or large law firm experience. Litigation experience is required. Ability to professionally collaborate with all levels of management, including C-level executives is needed. Consumer Finance regulatory experience is a plus. Consumer bankruptcy experience is desired.
