Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, closings, etc. Cite-check legal documents. Research legal documents. Assist in the preparation of legal documents including drafting pleadings and motions. Investigate cases. Locate witnesses. Organize and track case files for attorneys. Provide trial assistance.. Prepare/obtain affidavits. Coordinate depositions, if necessary. Prepare TOAs for court filings. Retrieval of archived records as needed. Coordinate shifting of files to maintain organization and sufficient room as directed by the attorneys or Records Coordinator. Assist filing secretaries with adding items to the case file, as needed or requested. Copy or scan as requested and/or time allows.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law firm experience (minimum of 5 years). Essential assets are excellent interpersonal skills with a client focused approach. Must have proficiency in desktop applications within scope of responsibility including knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, NetDocs, ProLaw, Elite). Should have ability to multi-task, prioritize, schedule and organize work and adapt to changing priorities. Knowledge and understanding of legal documents/records discipline (lifecycle management) is needed.
