  • Coordinate and oversee the work of outside counsel.
  • Provide legal advice and support across the Fund’s operational and administrative departments.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of recommendations to the Fund’s outside governing body.
  • Assist HR with legal research and actionable recommendations for day to day issues and concerns regarding employment/labor and benefit plans.
  • Review and negotiate vendor, insurance and lease agreements.
  • Serve as the Fund’s Custodian of Records, review and respond to subpoenas, participants’ domestic orders, estate matters, and garnishments.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership on drafting internal policies as needed.

Experience required:

  • JD from an accredited law school required.
  • Active membership in the California Bar required.
  • 3-5 years of consistent in-house experience with an entertainment industry union/guild, PRO or legal and/or business affairs experience with a network, studio, agency or entertainment company. Law firm or record label experience also considered.

  • Familiarity with film and television guild agreements, especially residual and supplemental market obligations.
  • Familiarity with theatrical, television and streaming media licensing and distribution arrangements.
  • Strong entertainment industry relationships and negotiation experience.

       •     Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with internal staff; studio and union staff and executives; outside counsel and other external contacts.

       •     Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to organize and coordinate tactics for long-term objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to formulate decisions and/or solve problems, under time pressure and urgent conditions.
