The candidate will provide legal advice, assistance, referrals, and representation, where applicable, to eligible clients in a compassionate, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed manner. Perform research and analysis, communicate with third parties, and assist in drafting, revising, and filing legal documents. Promote education efforts statewide and in local programs. Travel to treatment court locations outside of Austin. Ensure all client, project, and computer files are maintained in an orderly and appropriate manner. Provide all information needed/requested for TLSC-reporting in a prompt manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Should have a J.D. Degree. Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas within six months of hire date. Should have 3 years of law experience. Current knowledge and expertise of general civil law and legal system, including but not limited to experience in one or more of the following areas of practice: Family Law, Consumer Law, Contracts, Probate, and Veterans Benefits. High-level organization skills. Exceptional listening, writing, and oral communications skills. Strong time management skills and high attention to detail. Proficiency with (or the ability to quickly learn) LegalServer (TLSC’s case management system), Adobe, and Microsoft Office products. Understanding of grant requirements and associated reporting needs. Ability to effectively collaborate and provide high-level counseling. Ability to travel to out-of-town locations that include overnight stays. Ability to work with clients in a patient, trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and non-judgmental manner. Ability to enter information into the system accurately.
