Paralegal - Corporate and Compliance
Duties: Assist and support the compliance function. Prepare compliance-related reports and presentations. Manage online web-based training program. Plan training materials and assign legal and compliance training. Serve as primary contact for ethics and compliance hotline reporting system. Assist in managing the records management program. Assist in maintaining the key contract database. Research, monitor, and evaluate compliance issues and concerns. Assist in maintaining and updating compliance policies and procedures. Assist in performing compliance risk assessments. Assist and support the corporate legal function. Maintain corporate records & minute books. Assist on corporate and business filings. Handle subpoenas and service of process documents. Administer legal matters in Legal Tracker, the company’s matter-management and e-billing system, and associated claims management systems on intake, matter assignment, file documentation, and invoice processing and payments. Retrieve data from various systems and databases and perform analyses for metrics and reporting. Participate in accounting and financial reporting activities. Work closely with vendors, other departments, and team members on coordination of activities to accomplish tasks. Perform other paralegal duties. Take on additional tasks and projects assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university or significant relevant experience. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program is preferred. SAP or JDE desired. 5 years of relevant corporate legal and compliance experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal or compliance department. Strong compliance experience especially as related to code of conduct & ethics. Experience using legal time-and-billing software for law firms and/or an e-billing system for in-house legal departments. Experience using legal databases and reporting systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to establish trust (demonstrated by both adherence to high ethical standards and by competence with relevant tasks). Ability to uphold high standards of discretion and confidentiality. Ability to build and maintain relationships with members of other departments in the organization, as well as with members of the Legal Department. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Ability to work well with others. Demonstrated drive and initiative. Ability to be flexible and adaptable, including the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and new management procedures. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Commitment and engagement are evidenced by the work ethic and utilization of personal abilities. Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills; and professional competence (i.e. knowledge of, and proficiency with, relevant software and systems and an understanding of, and ability to apply, relevant laws).
