ProfileCorporate Litigation Paralegal Duties: Consult, assist, and coordinate with in-house counsel on all aspects of case management including conducting case assessments. Organize and analyze information in response to legal filings, demand letters and administrative charges. Oversee and manage discovery responses, updates, and deadlines. Duties specifically relating to discovery include overseeing collection of records and other information for dissemination to outside counsel; reviewing complaints/subpoenas to identify pertinent document categories to preserve; drafting issuing, and tracking document hold notices; providing guidance to IT; fielding inquiries from notice recipients (custodians); considering privilege issues; ensuring timely responses to discovery/subpoena, third party inquiries or demands; and ensuring appropriate timing for release of hold notices. Gather and compile case materials. Prepare correspondence. Assist in drafting legal documents. Assist in responding to administrative charges and demand letters and other claims of unlawful activity. Act as liaison between legal department and internal business units, affiliate companies, and outside counsel. Identify and coordinate interaction with key players (i.e. witnesses, document custodians, consultants and vendors). Work with matter management and electronic document systems to ensure case status and documentation is timely updated. Prepare declarations/affidavits. Check and edit legal forms for accuracy and assist in obtaining appropriate signatures. Build and maintain databases and files, including litigation tracker. Review and monitor new and updated laws and regulations. Conducts research and prepares reports/memos/Power Points as requested by in-house counsel. Assist in maintenance of Serengeti database and reporting of outside counsel and outside counsel spend for litigation. Maintain litigation docketing and calendaring.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Licensed paralegal certificate required. 3-5 years’ experience in a law firm and /or as in-house paralegal in litigation. Experience with databases, reporting and docketing. Demonstrated experience in managing the discovery process in complex commercial litigation. Demonstrated experience handling and managing e-discovery requests and working with e-discovery vendors. Experience working with outside counsel. Experience in labor and employment preferred. Experience responding to administrative charges preferred. Excellent writing, organizational, communication and computer skills. Fully proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Able to multi-task with high level of energy. Strong attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, ability to “think outside of the box.”. Team player with a dedicated work ethic in a “check your ego at the door” environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, work for multiple individuals and take on a variety of responsibilities.
