ProfileSenior Paralegal The candidate will conduct factual and legal research and provide written analyses to address issues pertaining to the Section’s rulemaking, coordination, or technical assistance responsibilities, including issues relating to the regulatory assessment for a proposed or draft final rule. Reading, analyzing, and summarizing public comments received in response to proposed rules. Identifying for attorney review issues raised in public comments that need to be addressed in the regulatory assessment, regulatory text, or preamble. Draft portions of the preamble under the supervision of the lead DRS attorney for a particular rulemaking. Assist with reviews, analyses, and legal research required in order to respond to interagency comments received during OMB’s Executive Order 12866 review for the Department’s rulemakings and policy documents, as well as the rulemakings and policy documents drafted by other Federal agencies on which the Department’s views are sought. Should have experience conducting regulatory reviews a premium. This position places a premium on the ability to write well. In applying the facts to the legal analysis, the writing must be logical, persuasive and sufficiently thorough so as to leave the reader with the firm feeling that the correct decision has been reached. Should have previous experience working with federal civil rights statutes. JD degree strongly preferred.
