Private Client Group Department Attorney The candidate must have: Substantial substantive knowledge and experience in U.S. domestic estate planning and a willingness to participate in the Private Client Group’s fiduciary practice Some experience with international tax and estate planning and a willingness to develop an expertise in the other core areas of the department’s legal practice, including planned giving to public charities, philanthropic estate planning, and advising clients with significant private equity holdings A willingness to: collaborate with other Private Client Group lawyers; support the diverse practices within the Private Client Group; serve as a key leverage point within the legal practice’s workflow by reviewing work product from junior associates and by taking on substantive work that would otherwise be handled by partners; competence and confidence to take initiative on client matters to ensure timing and quality of work exceed both client and partner expectations; and contribute to our overall practice. Cultural compatibility and the ability to work well within a team of attorneys and professional staff The ideal candidate would be Boston-based and have 5-8 years of experience practicing within a similar sophisticated estate planning practice at a large law firm. Substantive Knowledge and Experience. Significant experience advising high net worth individuals and families on sophisticated tax and estate planning matters including: Structuring and drafting core estate plans to meet transfer tax and dispositive goals Structuring and implementing lifetime gifting strategies as well as leveraging strategies such as GRATs and sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts Advising on and implementing charitable planning techniques, including split interests trusts and structuring and administering private foundations and other charitable trusts Planning for multi-generational wealth with family partnerships, trusts and other entities Fiduciary income tax matters relating to complicated estates and trusts Administration of estates and trusts for high net worth families Technical Skills. The ideal candidate will have the following technical competencies: Strong communication skills, including an ability to explain complicated tax and estate planning techniques to clients Strong drafting skills, including excellent grammar and attention to detail Ability to multi-task and manage multiple matters with multiple partners Willingness to take the initiative to ensure timing and quality of work exceed client expectations Ability to manage workflow, delegate to, and supervise the work product of junior associates and professional staff Ability to be collaborative and work well within a team of both attorneys and professional staff. Some experience with international tax and estate planning and would provide support to this burgeoning portion of our practice. Must have an interest in serving as a fiduciary where appropriate and in helping us build our fiduciary management business.

The firm should focus on getting management training to handle difficult problems and issues. Members of the management team need to be more considerate of staff and employees. Management should take responsibility for issues and problems and deal with them and not try to blame employees and staff for them.

Cons : The law firm does not do a great job in terms of how management handles difficult situations. Management sometimes does not take the responsibility for problems and issues that occur.
