Senior Manager, Economic Development The candidate's job responsibilities include: Collaboration with Amazon's operations, infrastructure and corporate real estate teams, legal, tax, HR, finance, corporate communications, and other business partners regarding corporate initiatives, site expansion plans and requirements; Supporting the site selection process including due diligence (RFP), procurement, and execution of economic development, infrastructure, and tax related incentive negotiations, applications and legal incentive agreements; Support on-the-job training, workforce development, and other learning & development related opportunities for public/private partnerships; must have excellent organizational skills and be a strong written and verbal communicator, with great attention to detail. You will need to be able to work independently in a constantly changing and sometimes ambiguous environment. Also need common sense, great judgment, and a sense of humor; Oversee matters related to economic forecasting for incentive benefits, incentive benefit realization, commitment tracking, ongoing compliance, and program implementation; Manage relationships with outside legal counsel and other professional service providers; Work directly with state and community economic development, workforce and labor, taxation, and other key government agencies, officials as well as chambers of commerce, utilities, and other key public/private stakeholder groups. Involves direct contact with internal business owners, external parties including outside legal counsel, developers, and economic development organizations, utilities, chambers of commerce and state and local government officials.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Should have 8+ years of recent multistate economic development direct transactional experience and subject matter expertise within a corporate organization, law firm, site selection firm, real estate firm, legal department, accounting firm, consultancy or government agency with a primary focus on economic development and economic incentives. Multi-year experience in negotiating economic incentives, including complex statutory incentives and non-statutory incentives. Must able to demonstrate a successful track record. Must possess negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate proficiency on various tax incentive programs. Experience in dealing with corporate business leaders, high level government officials, and external stakeholder groups. Experience leading and managing a team and third-party vendors, contractors and advisors. Demonstrated track record of success in developing successful partnerships with state and local governments, and other public and private stakeholder groups. Significant experience in managing, economic development, infrastructure and workforce development issues for large scale development projects. Ability to travel domestically on a frequent basis and internationally on an occasional basis. JD degree with active state bar admission, CPA, or other recognized professional accreditation or certification. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certifications preferred. International economic development or site selection experience is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills including experience making presentations in public forums. Previous in-house economic development experience a must. Proficiency with Excel and Salesforce is a plus. Public policy and government affairs experience. Experience collaborating with strategic communication teams.
