Tax – Senior Manager – Financial Services The candidate will use expertise in taxation to provide compliance and consulting services to hedge funds, private equities, investment partnerships, alternative products, family offices, mutual funds, broker-dealers, banks, insurance companies and other investment managers. Candidates must be familiar with the tax consulting process and possess the analytical skills necessary for the effective diagnosis, development and implementation of solutions to clients' tax needs. In important role as Tax Senior Manager you will be responsible for the following: Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on high-value quality tax advice and seek to expand services to clients. High level federal and multi state review of tax research, partnership work papers, allocations and tax returns. Involvement in client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and the tax implications of transactions of funds. Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, consulting, etc. - approximately 20- 40% of time. Serve as Tax client service coordinator while developing and executing the firm's client service plan. Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards. Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach. Drive growth and profitability of industry/specialty area by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross selling and new clients for the tax practice - approximately 30 - 40% of time. Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback - approximately 10- 20% of time. Train and develop staff members. Manage client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance. Develop and sustain strong client relationships. Keep up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law. Provide industry knowledge and expertise. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required and CPA or J.D. required. Masters in Taxation desirable. Must have 8+ years of financial services tax compliance and tax consulting experience pertaining to planning, research and general mergers and acquisitions activities. Knowledge of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and aggregate allocations and the ability to read subscription and partnership agreements are needed. Should have understanding of trader vs. investor rules, OID, swaps and/or derivatives, market discount rules, incentive allocations and common hedge fund structures (i.e. master feeders). Experience in public accounting is required.
