Senior Income Tax Analyst I The candidate will guide the successful completion of federal and state income tax projects or programs. May be responsible for several components or one complex component of a large project. Serves as a consultant to management and other groups on federal and state income tax matters. Will prepare the Company's consolidated federal income tax return. This includes soliciting information from various parties, preparing various supporting book to tax adjustment workpapers, preparing tax adjustment and consolidation elimination entries, incorporating this information into the tax compliance software and electronically transmitting the completed return to the IRS. Prepare the Company's state income returns, extensions and estimated payments in a manner that both mitigates penalties related to late or incorrect filing and that minimizes state tax liabilities. This also includes researching, analyzing and recommending tax jobs to take on various issues. Maintain a thorough knowledge of current federal and state income tax laws and regulations, keeping abreast of ongoing and proposed legislation and updating federal and state compliance files to reflect changes in tax law. This responsibility requires staying current on all federal and state electronic filing procedures and requirements. Maintain and updates the Company's fixed asset tax depreciation schedules in the Peoplesoft fixed asset system. These schedules encompass all reporting necessary for both federal and state compliance. This responsibility will require regular interaction with the Company’s fixed asset and/or Peoplesoft coordinators. Assist with the preparation of quarterly and year-end ASC 740 (FAS 109 Accounting for Income Taxes) financial reporting. This may include any or all of the following: soliciting information from various parties, calculating the appropriate income tax expense and liability amounts, preparing rate reconciliation calculations and preparing any required FIN 48 disclosures. Assist with the Company’s information reporting compliance program. This may include any or all of the following: processing and researching IRS 972CG penalty notices and B Notices, updating and circulating the Company’s consultant backup withholding list and assisting with administering the Company’s year-end information reporting process. Prepare the Company’s annual car driver letters, which are used by career car drivers to report their IRC Section 280F auto lease inclusion amounts on their individual tax returns. Update the Company’s Tax Essentials publication, the guide used by the independent beauty consultants in reporting their Mary Kay businesses on their individual tax returns. Research and responds to both federal and state income tax notices. Assist with federal and state income tax audits, including researching general ledger account detail and preparing various schedules and analyses. Research and analyze detailed federal and state income tax issues to determine the financial impact on the Company. Research and prepares tax memorandums. Answer independent contractor federal income tax compliance questions.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related field. Master’s degree in Accounting or JD degree is preferred. Must be eligible to sit for the CPA exam and be actively engaged in the certification process or be a licensed attorney. Should have 6-9 years of relevant federal and state income tax experience; 3-7 years of experience with a Master’s degree. Proficient with the following types of computer software: a) spreadsheet applications (i.e. MS Excel), word processing (i.e. MS Word), tax research (RIA or CCH), and tax compliance (i.e. RIA One Source). Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional software is a plus.
