Boston office of our client seeks senior private client attorney with 8+ years of experience including 5+ years working within charitable giving, including exposure to planned giving and private foundations. The candidate will be responsible for planned giving and charitable planning practices, including: preparation of planned giving documents, including gift annuity agreements, charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts, and related correspondence; negotiation of gift agreements for major gifts and planned gifts; communication with clients, their donors and their donors' counsel about planned giving, including development of planned giving arrangements and review of documents with clients; in consultation with partners, development of solutions to complex gift questions; responding to client questions regarding charitable giving issues; identifying and coordinating cross practice support from attorneys in other practice groups, including private investment funds, hedge funds, and tax, and support cross practice initiatives including the firm's Charitable Foundation Initiative and Family Office Initiative; supporting partners in maintaining The Harvard Manual on Tax Aspects of Charitable Giving; expanding and maintaining knowledge management in planned giving practice; providing training to associates and paraprofessionals on planned giving; and supporting the firm's charitable foundation practice, including oversight of document preparation, research and client advising, contribute to firm business development efforts, and support the firm's philanthropic advisor. Should preferably have experience working with exempt organizations or as a trust and estate attorney. Should preferably also have significant experience advising public charities and their donors on giving, including: drafting planned giving documents for large public charities; negotiating and drafting gift agreements for major gifts and planned gifts to large public charities; and counseling public charity clients, their donors and their donors' counsel in connection with the development of planned giving arrangements. Significant experience with charitable planning, including: advising individuals on income, gift and estate taxation of charitable giving; developing charitable planning strategies for high net worth individuals and families; drafting charitable planning documents, including split-interest charitable trusts; and planning with charitable entities, including establishing and administering private foundations is desired.
