Title Attorney Duties: Assists the company’s Title Supervisor with providing guidance on all title-related matters associated with Eclipse Resources’ oil and gas operations, including ordering and reviewing title, assisting with title litigation, drafting and reviewing curative documents for a wide range of complex title matters, assessing and interpreting risks associated with title issues including application of the Ohio Dormant Mineral Act and other title-related statutes, and attending drill schedule meetings with operations, land, and other departments. Aids in management and assessment of the company’s pending title matters. Manages the ordering, analysis and administration of all abstracts, title reports, title opinions and division order title opinions. Assists with the development of title-related policies and procedures. Provides guidance and support to other company departments with respect to title interpretation and oil and gas regulatory matters. Exercises appropriate judgment regarding title and legal issues in order to recommend appropriate actions to Title Manager and other company department leaders. Provides competent and creative strategic title guidance to anticipate and prevent problems and to ensure legality of documentation, business plans, policies and procedures. Conducts legal research and interprets effects upon business operations and advises appropriate management of implications thereof. Comply with all regulatory, environmental and safety rules and standards, as well as company policy. Relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performing all job duties in a safe and efficient manner. Adhering to all company policies and procedures. Performing other functions/duties as required.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and JD Degree from an AB accredited law school required. Licensed and admitted to practice Law. Admission to practice law in the State of Ohio preferred. 2-4 years of experience as a practicing attorney. Experience reviewing title opinions and curing title defects. Experience in practicing oil and gas law working in either a law firm or in-house legal department preferred. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Strong ability to prepare documents relating to complex title issues. Strong ability to negotiate, draft and review oil and gas transactional and operational documents and agreements. Strong ability to interpret and comprehend legal documents and conduct legal research. Proficiency in computerized legal research, e.g. Westlaw. Highly intelligent with ability to think analytically. Team player with the ability to operate in a dynamic organization. Proven ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels and functions within and outside the organization. Self-starter, results and success oriented, with the ability to be responsive and follow through on programs and plan which have been developed.
