ProfileCRE Legal Counsel Duties: Will provide hands-on legal support and counsel for and work with business leaders, managers, and colleagues on key legal and/or compliance issues related to non-owner occupied and owner occupied commercial real estate. Prepare and review documents, review titles and surveys, negotiate SDNAs, prepare modifications, assist with workouts. Provides legal advice and performs legal research on various complex legal and regulatory issues. It is critical that legal counsel develop in-depth substantive knowledge of commercial real estate transactions, and the operating relationships that business units have with significant business clients. Primarily works independently with minimal supervision by General Counsel or Senior Managing Counsel and the Director of Commercial Real Estate. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree and licensed to practice Law. 4 years of commercial real estate legal experience. Preferred: 6 years of commercial, legal experience. Experience with a law firm or as in-house counsel with a financial institution specializing in commercial real estate. Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Strong working knowledge of legal issues in assigned areas. Strong skills in relationship building, critical thinking, strategic vision, and ability to mitigate risk in decision making. Preferred: Knowledge of bank regulatory issues, UCC Articles 3, 4, 4A and 9, and loan documentation are a plus. Workout experience. Issue identification and implementation of regulatory initiatives; assess impact on relevant business line(s). General understanding of the banking and financial services industries and the political, regulatory and economic influences that affect those industries generally.
