Attorney - Real Estate Duties: Assists in the review and approval (and drafting as necessary) of legal documentation for build-to- suit and conventional new store leases in accordance with established policies and procedures, working with leasing department and outside counsel. Assists lease administration in preparing and responding to landlord defaults and allegations of tenant defaults. Reviews and approves easement agreements related to build-to-suit leases. Assists lease renewals team in review of documentation and completion of amendments and other necessary documents. Assists in the fee for development program, including reviewing purchase contracts and assisting in the resolution of issues prior to closing. Assists lease administration department relative to accurate lease interpretations and abstract information with the SLM, REM and Store Master systems. Works with outside counsel regarding conventional shopping center issues. Assists legal department with real estate related litigation, including gathering supporting documentation. Reviews and approves when necessary SNDA, Estoppels and Lease Amendments and Assignments. Reviews and processes right-of-way, easement and similar requests from governmental authorities. Partners with other company departments as necessary to address licensing, operations and other issues needing real estate legal participation.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school required. 3-6 years of experience in retail real estate leasing and related real estate transactional work. Relevant experience with a growth retail or a law firm focused on retail leasing and development. Ability to be a deal maker. Strong negotiating and advising skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Strong project & team management skills. Ability to work with rapidly-shifting, multiple priorities.
